The constant bombs and attacks leave the people of Afghanistan living in fear. They don't know when the attacks will end and they cannot do much to stop it. This presents a social issue of how war can cause the deaths of innocent lives. Laila and her family survived at the cost of another's life, like all survivors of the attacks do. While Laila is relieved that her house was not the one to have the bomb dropped on, she still feels the pain of knowing that another is gone. Either way, innocent Afghan citizens cannot win, someone will always be killed.
